The Sniffies map explained

Updated October 19, 2026

Illustrative mock-up of a map-based app on a phone, not the actual Sniffies interface
Illustrative mock-up only. This is not the actual Sniffies interface.

The map is Sniffies. Learning to read it quickly makes the whole experience easier and safer.

User icons

Each icon represents a user who is active now or was recently active. Positions are approximate; treat them as a rough area rather than an exact address.

Groups and places

The map also shows groups and popular meeting places nearby. In mid-2026, live message boards for locations were replaced with AI-generated summaries.

Safety first: verify people before meeting, meet somewhere public first, tell a friend your plans, and never send money or verification codes. Read the full safety guide.

Reading activity

Busier areas and peak times show more icons. Quiet areas may look empty during the day.

Safety on the map

Never assume an icon's position is exact, and don't go looking for someone based on the map alone. Agree on a public meeting point in chat.
